History: Carolina Motor Madness is a new event. This is our first year. The Tega Cay Lions have put on many successful events within the community before including the Tega Cay Fall Festival and the Polar Bear Plunge, which are now annual classics in the community. So we've got the experience to host great events! Several of the members were discussing how the Fort Mill area somewhat lacks in the area of cruise-ins and cool car shows. After one of our meetings somebody brought it up and before we knew it, we had our first committee meeting set up.

What started out as a small idea (50 cars at the local Sonic), escalated into a much bigger plan when one of our members talked to the Charlotte Knights and they agreed to let us use their 3000 space paved parking lot (and great location) for the event. Then we started thinking on a grand scale. We put together a website www.CarolinaMotorMadness.com and started generating marketing materials and hit the phones for sponsorship.

We are excited to have not 1 but 2 title sponsors (American National Insurance Company and Miller Lite/Coors Light). Beyond that, Buca de Beppo (an Italian Restaurant in Pineville) has agreed to sponsor our Hospitality Tent which will have great food in a closed off area for sponsors and volunteers. We also have a number of Gold level sponsors including First Properties of the Carolinas, Founders Federal Credit Union, SunTrust, and Full Throttle Magazine. For vendors, we already have The Town Tavern At Fort Mill, Burks BBQ from Rock Hill, and ongoing talks with many other sponsors/vendors.

And we're just getting started. Full Throttle Magazine has a readership of over 30,000 motorcyclists in the Carolinas alone. Carolina Motor Madness will have a full page color ad in both the February and March issues. We have contacted the presidents of over 50 car clubs in the Carolinas alone and many of them are spreading the word to their muscle car clubs and several have already said they are coming. In addition, letters are going out to thousands of local Lions Members. Many of them have classic cars and will be in attendance. So in short, even though this is our first year, we have a plan to host the best car show of the year with the following details:
