Muscle Cars: 1969 Pontiac GTO by Rich
>About your car:
1969 Pontiac GTO, 400 motor w/TH400 trans, 435HP & 425 torque, 3.53 gears inside of a 10 bolt posi rear. Has the factory hood tach and rear spoiler options as well as A/C which is currently not hooked up. It originally came with a 4-speed, but the previous owner changed it to an auto. I plan on changing it back!
>Track times, top speed, any and all modifications to >your car.
I've never had it out on the track. Its mostly stock with the exceptions of traction bars, an Edelbrock Performer manifold, a Holley Street Avenger carb, a Holley air cleaner, chrome alternator and valve covers, MSD electronic ignition system, American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, and an inner fender mounted oil filter.
>How long it took if you repaired or restored it.
It originally had a frame on restoration back in 2004 by a shop in San Francisco. Since it had the original green colored interior, they decided to change the exterior from the Verdoro green to an Emerald Green Metallic of Volvo's 2000 line. Since I've had it, I've put the Holley on it. I didn't like the Edelbrock carb that was on it.
>When you bought it.
June of 2005.
>Where you bought it.
From a private party in Pacifica, CA.
>What makes this car special to you?
I had a stripped down model of a '69 GTO in high school. I loved that car and the memories I had from it. I used to pretend I was in The General Lee and race around the dirt roads of the Redwood City hills back when it was all farms and ranches.
>About you:
>Why are you interested in muscle cars?
Both of my parents were into cars. My Dad used to build dragsters and had a '51 Merc. My Mom had a '56 Ford that was Tahitian Red and had cheater pipes. She used to race the boys up and down El Camino Real. So I guess you can say it was in my blood!
>Why did you chose this car?
Because of the one I had in high school. I fell in love with Pontiacs. I've owned 5 over the years.
>What clubs you are in?
I'm a member of the Golden Gate Goats GTO club.
>What car shows you go to?
I go to the Goodguys shows in Pleasanton, CA as well as the local ones in my area.
>What events you go to?
Other than the Goodguys ones, none yet. I plan on going to SEMA next time.
>What awards have you won?
I won a "Best Under Construction" for my '65 LeMans that I had previous to my GTO. The GTO won a "Best of the 60's" award last year.
>Do you have any other muscle cars?
I'm currently doing a frame off resto on a '71 Olds 442 with a Ram-Air 455. I also have a truck. Its a '63 Chevy step-side with a 350 in it. Its the shop truck, so its not getting anything done to it for a while.
