Stangpede officially became a car club May of 2001. We started our national expansion in early 2004. The founder of Stangpede Car Club is Ernie Sigala from San Diego, California. We are an organization dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and modification of the Ford Mustang. Club activities include car shows, car cruises, attending various functions with other car clubs as well as helping corporate partners with promotional activities.

In March of 2007, Ernie asked Don Whittaker and Ed Hidalgo if they would be interest in starting a race team for the club. Both members were already racing their cars. Don accepted the position of race captain and Ed the race co-captain.

Don owns a 2005 Ford Mustang GT with a Kenny Bell supercharger and Ed owns a 2005 Ford Mustang GT with a Saleen supercharger.

The two race tracks most visited by the race team are Race Legal - San Diego, CA _www.RaceLegal.com_ (http://www.racelegal.com/) and Barona Raceway - San Diego, CA _www.BaronaSpeedway.com_ (http://www.baronaspeedway.com/) .

To be a member of the race team, you have to complete certain requirements.
1) A minimum of 25 1/8-mile or 1/4-mile runs must be made.
2) Your car must run at least 8.99 (or better) in the 1/8-mile or 13.99 (or better) in the 1/4-mile; and
3) You must have at least three reaction times (RT) of 0.050 seconds or better (or 0.550 on a 0.500 tree)

Once you have met all three of these requirements, you will have become an official member of the Drag Racing team!!" On an added note you have to join Stangpede mustang club also to be part of the race team.
