In 1991 the Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show was organized as a Chamber of Commerce event in Woodland Park, Colorado which is 20 miles northwest of Colorado Springs on Highway 24.

At the first show only five cars were entered so when the Chamber of Commerce withdrew from sponsoring the Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show, the Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club made a commitment to continue it. The Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club was officially organized in 1998 as a non-profit organization with a dedicated purpose of providing an annual car show.

Since 1998, the Clouds Cruisers Car Show has grown to a two-day show with 200 to 250 muscle cars participating and hundreds of spectators. Located in the heart of Woodland Park near City Hall, the Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club is an annual event on the third Saturday in September. The Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month to plan and monitor the progress of the yearly event. Anyone with an interest in helping with the show is invited to attend.

The Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show can accommodate 300 vintage, custom or muscle cars and motorcycles. All parking is on hard surface streets. Trailer parking is also available. The Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show includes an auction of auto-related memorabilia and door prizes. All registrants are entered into the door prize drawing and receive a goodie bag which includes a t-shirt, dash plaque and discounts to local merchants. A DJ provides entertainment. Food and merchandise vendors are on hand to help participants and spectators enjoy the show.

Following the show there is a Poker run to Cripple Creek, Colorado. Lodging and many fine restaurants are available in Cripple Creek. Attendees cars can be left on the main street (Bennett Avenue) which is secured by their Police department. Cripple Creek hosts the continuation of the show on the following Sunday and always has very good entertainment.

Net proceeds from the annual car show are donated to local charities. Each year, the Above the Clouds Cruisers Car Club has donated $6000 to $7000 to local area charities such as Help the Needy, Prospect Home Care, Hospice, Aspen Mine Senior Center and Community Cupboard. We are very proud that we donated $9750 to local charities, in 2005.

The 2006 Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show was a huge success. It started early in the morning with a surprise, as we were setting up the tables at 5:45 a.m., there were two bears taking a bath in the pond by the park. We knew it was going to be a great day after that spectacle. The weather co-operated and it was a beautiful day. We had 215 cars registered for the show and had many, many spectators. We presented 40 trophies and had almost 100 door prizes.
